Celebrating the Doyenne: Diksha Gandhi

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Diksha Gandhi is the co-founder of Brick by Brick Athleisure, a brand with comfortable and stylish athleisure apparels.

What is your wellness philosophy?

What you eat and how much you move in a day will largely determine your mood, your attitude and your perspective towards life and business. I like to pay close attention to what’s on my plate as it is directly related to what will be on my mind or how I feel later on. The cleaner you eat, the better you feel.

Your success mantra?

There is no substitute for hard work. The work that you put out from the bottom of your heart will make waves. In your startup, or your approach to life, honesty will take you further than anything else.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Focus on the product more than anything else in your startup. Other factors such as your discounts and offers, sales and pricing matter, but if you lose track of the product while trying to have a huge sale or offer the most competitive price, you are ultimately going to lose. Focus on giving your customer the best product possible and all the other things won’t matter eventually. The power of a returning customer is much greater than the cost of acquiring a new one.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Be bold, don’t be afraid and worried if you are doing the right thing or not. Do it anyway. The best way to learn is to become okay with making mistakes. Also, in the boardroom or at a business meeting, always move with logic and facts rather than intuition or not completely accurate information. We as women are wired to think emotionally, but train your mind to do otherwise and you will win. Let logic be the driving force and let intuition follow to support that.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Pride is a dangerous emotion in itself, I believe. While I try to keep it at bay, one thing I take pride in is being a woman at work, a woman in the weight room and in the kitchen, and not being shy about any of these roles. The stereotypes about what women can do or be need to be questioned and broken at all times.
