Bollywood Celebs and their take on COVID-19

We’re all in this together.

Those in the spotlight, they shine not just because of their work but also their willing urge to support and serve the community when time calls for it, and Bollywood has no less of such stars.

Humbled by the COVID pandemic, many celebrities are supporting and encouraging their fans to do the same (thanks to social media). Here are some of industry’s biggest names playing their part for the people:

1.) AKSHAY KUMAR

Always among the first ones to help, Akshay Kumar donates INR 25 crore to PM-CARES fund. Not only this, his social media posts are all about #BreakCorona and urging people to stay home and practice social distancing. “….there is a lockdown for a reason. Please don’t be selfish and venture out, you are putting other’s lives at risk.” says Akshay.

2.) ALIA BHATT

Alia Bhatt contributed to the PM-CARES fund and The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra) as a gesture of her support. This diva is regularly seen practicing social distancing and also making the most of these times, by learning new things.

3.) SARA ALI KHAN

Sara Ali Khan did her part by donating to the PM-CARES fund and The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Her social media is giving us major fitness goals as we see her hosting Instagram live and workout routines one could at home. We not only see her supporting Janta Curfew, but also motivating people to take care of themselves.

4. KARTIK ARYAN

Kartik Aaryan contributed INR 1 crore to the PM-CARES fund and urges everyone to show their support. “We need each other more than now.” says Kartik. What broke the internet when he followed the tone of his famous monologue from Pyaar ka Punchnama and converted the words to fall in relevance to COVID-19 in his IGTV- #CoronaStopKaroNa.

5. VICKY KAUSHAL

Vicky Kaushal donated INR 1 crore to PM-CARES and The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra) saying that there are many who are not as fortunate and he humbly pledges to contribute and do his part. We see him working out at home while urging everyone to do their bit for a healthier and stronger future.

6. KATRINA KAIF

Katrina Kaif contributes to the PM-CARES fund and The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra) and express “Heartbreaking to see the hardship and suffering this pandemic has unleashed in the world.” She has been helping out at home and working out as well by posting a workout routine with Yasmin Karachiwala.

7. VARUN DHAWAN

Varun Dhawan, like most of his peers, has also contributed to the PM Care Fund with a sum of INR 30 Lakhs saying “Desh Hai Toh Hum Hai.” The actor also shared an interesting video with his fans wherein the doctor heading Corona operations at the Kasturba Hospital, Mumbai, briefly informed about the virus.

8. KRITI SANON

Rising actress Kriti Sanon did her part by announcing on Instagram her support as well as encouraging her fans to do their best during this quarantine period. The actress had even shared a self-composed poem Thham Jaa Teher Jaa about the virus on her Instagram page.

9. SONAM K AHUJA

Sonam Kapoor’s production Producers Guild of India set up a Relief Fund for workers affected by the production setdown due to COVID-19. The actress has also been profusely making use of her Instagram handle to spread awareness and support as many causes as she can, such as the Helping Hands initiative providing masks to people and sharing a letter on providing food for stray animals.

10. PRIYANKA CHOPRA JONAS AND NICK JONAS

Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Nick Jonas posted an Instagram story about they doing their part and donating to organizations that are helping people towards fighting COVID-19. She even posted about various organizations people could donate to. Accepting the #SelfHands challenge from Dr. Tedros and even going Instagram live with him, this couple clarified questions taken from the general audience.

11. ANUSHKA SHARMA AND VIRAT KOHLI

A true power couple, Anushka and Virat stepped up to pledge support towards PM-Cares Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). “Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many and we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens.”

12. SHILPA SHETTY KUNDRA AND RAJ KUNDRA

“There is no better exercise for the heart than to reach out and lift the helpless.” expresses Shilpa Shetty via instagram. The actress, along with husband Raj Kundra pledges INR 21 Lakhs to the PM Care Fund. The diva also sports major fitness motivation by constantly sharing workout and fitness clips at-home.
