India’s first K-BeautyCon hosted in Chennai

Palladium and Phoenix MarketCity, Chennai, hosts India’s first K-BeautyCon with leading South Korean beauty brands, bloggers, and make-up artists

At the recent event organised by Phoenix MarketCity& Palladium, Chennai, launched the first ever K-BeautyCon in India on 20 September 2018 which included workshops, panel discussions, masterclasses, blogger meets and exciting contests with some of the leading brands in Korea and beauty bloggers/ influencers from India.

The event was a part of the mall’s September Fest – a month-long celebration of Asian Culture including Anime, Asian Cinema, K-Pop, and eSports.

Inspired by Korea’s leading position in the world of beauty and cosmetics the following brands were a part of K-BeautyCon weekend: Dear Klairs, A. by Bom, VelyVely, Limese, Cosrx, Seoul Made, Urok, Lock, KekeiCoony, Lovgirl, Daisy, IKR&Beauty One.

The three-day event was a huge success and gave Korean brands a platform to talk about their journey in India and how the K beauty trend has influenced the beauty industry as a whole especially with their anti-aging formulas and skincare routines. The blogger and influencers were given an opportunity to talk about beauty and fashion blogging and demonstrate the difference between K-Beauty and Western makeup.

Celebrity makeup artist Rosario Belmonte demonstrated a Masterclass tutorial on creating an edgy double eyelid look. Some of the leading influencers from India who spoke about beauty as a lifestyle included AanamChashmawala, founder and director of fashion and lifestyle portal  WhatWhenWear.in, Debasree Banerjee, Beauty influencer with a following of almost 200k on Youtube, Puipuii Hmar, Founder and Co-owner Of Daisy Skinfix, Jessica Ruth CunvilleMarbaniang, Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2015 model, PriyakantaLaishram, filmmaker, Joshua Kakade, makeup artist, Ankita Saxena Arora, blogger amongst others.

Marking the launch of the K-BeautyCon, K-Pop influenced band Music Group NaMuheld an outdoor concert in the courtyard supported by the InKo Centre for Indian and Korean dialogue the event highlighted the growing interest in Asian and Korean culture in Chennai and across India. The performance saw an audience in the rapture of the band’s foot-tapping music. The evening performance was the perfect addition to a stimulating weekend.
