5 Fixes to Treat & Mend Your Color Damaged Hair

Let’s talk about an important issue, “damage by color.” Many of us think that coloring our hair causes damage. But do you know that harm isn’t typically brought on by color.

Hair dyes contain a lot of chemicals right from ammonia to peroxides. No one wants dry, brittle strands that split and break off, no matter your hair type, color, or cut . The main causes of it include incorrect color formulae utilized, a lack of color knowledge, improper consultations or misunderstandings between the stylist and the customer, and occasionally applying too much lightening agents in the client’s hair.

Vaishakhi Haria, Meister @ HAK, Schwarzkopf Professional gives away a few tips to repair your hair damage and maintain healthy hair.

1.) Bond strengthening treatments

If you have chosen extremely light shades like blondes, the hair tends to become weak and causes breakage. There are some excellent quality bonds strengthening treatments like Fibreplex from Schwarzkopf Professional which helps in controlling hair breakage & strengthens the bonds of the hair. This treatment is recommended for in-salon only.

2.) Proper home care

It is absolutely essential to follow your stylist’s guidance for proper homecare. Your routine must include a shampoo & conditioner or treatment which is meant for color treated hair. Along with that, a leave-in cream/serum must be used post wash to control the tangles & fly-aways. You should go for Professional products only as their formulas are more concentrated and suitable for the post-color care. BC Bonacure Color Freeze range and Oil Ultime finishing oils are my favorites.

3.) Fortnightly mask regime

This is a deep hydration process which is highly recommended once every fortnight. You can get this treatment done at the salon or you can opt for it at home. Your stylist can recommend the best product suitable for your hair type. Kindly refrain from buying masks without professional guidance to avoid unnecessary product buildup & heaviness in the hair.

4.) Regular trims

If you are a person who loves frequent hair color & also likes to keep your hair long at the same time, regular trims are a must. Most of the time, hair tends to get dry towards the ends and cause split ends sometimes. Hence, I recommend a haircut at least once in 6-8 weeks to maintain a beautiful texture from roots to tips. You may not necessarily need a makeover that often, but a haircut refresh goes a long way in maintaining the hair.

5.) Customized repair

There are some advanced damage repair treatments available at professional salons which can treat your hair & give a beautiful luster & shine. The Fibre Clinix Service from Schwarzkopf Professional is an Advanced Repair BlowDry Service that simultaneously repairs and restores the inner and outer structure of your hair, bringing hair fiber back to its virgin and healthy state. These treatments address multiple hair concerns in one session and are fully customized to every client’s personal requirement. They can be done once a month to retain healthy hair.
