The Rise of the Wellness Wedding

From protein bars to hydration stations, couples are finding new ways to make their wedding celebrations healthier without taking away the fun.

What if your wedding could leave you feeling refreshed instead of exhausted? Weddings play an important role in everyone's life, and so people are now incorporating various wellness activities like yoga, facials, spa sessions, and journaling into their wedding day to make it not only more memorable but also a healthier experience. In this article, we will take a deep dive into how wellness activities are integrated in weddings  and how people are embracing this new shift.

The New Trend of Wellness Activities in Weddings

Weddings are a blend of two contrasting emotions—chaos and calm, but with time, people are moving more towards the quieter side of the experience. Alongside the joyful  cacophony of celebrations, they are now looking forward to a more balanced wedding filled with wellness, revitalization, and a sense of wholeness that comes from being with their other half while also feeling at peace within their own body, making it the healthier side of the coin.

Anant Khandelwal, Founder & Managing Director, IWP – Indian Wedding Planners, explains “For years, an Indian wedding was almost an endurance sport — five days, a dozen functions, everyone running on adrenaline with barely any sleep. That's changing. Today's couples and their families still want the scale and the spectacle, but they want to actually feel good through it.”

He further adds, “We've started designing wellness into the heart of the wedding! In practice, that means dawn yoga and sound healing on the lawns before the day begins; a spa and 'recovery lounge' that runs right through the celebration so guests can slip away for a quick massage between functions; hydration and cold-pressed juice bars sitting alongside the cocktail bar; and menus our chefs build with a nutritionist. Our couples are global and health-literate; they understand that what they will remember most about their wedding is how it made them feel, not only how it was photographed. Even the couple's own preparation has matured — instead of crash diets and last-minute facials, we're now coordinating 8–12-week wellness journeys covering training, skin, sleep and, importantly, calm. Recently, at a palace wedding in Rajasthan, the family asked us to build the entire week around keeping their 120 closest guests genuinely well. We ran a morning movement session every single day, set up a therapist-staffed wellness lounge, and kept a wellness-forward menu running in parallel with the traditional spread.”

This shift tells that wellness is not just limited to rich vacations brimming with meditation, spas, retreats, and crafts, but is now entering the wedding market as well. With increased awareness, people are not just making it a part of their daily routines but are also incorporating it into their weddings and vacations.

Some of the common ways wellness is being seen in weddings are through various activities, including yoga sessions for the couple and the bridal party, sound baths with crystal bowls for relaxation, and nature hikes instead of traditional bachelorette parties. And not just this, the plates are also shifting from commercial catering to a farm-to-table system. Alongside fancy, decorative cakes, there are also low-sugar dessert options. We can also see kombucha bars, sparkling botanical drinks, shrubs, beetroot lattes, and fresh fruit juices among the offerings to maintain the vibrancy of the weddings .

Elisabeth, founder of the wellness community CHAARG, also opted for a wellness wedding. She shared that her wedding included yoga, meditation, a HIIT class, swimming, ice baths, breathwork, acupuncture, massages, journaling, volleyball, fire-twirling performances, and wholesome, healthy food. The couple wanted a wedding that felt like a true expression of who they are. To achieve that, they incorporated everything they normally do in their daily routine into their wedding, but in a more elevated and celebratory way.

3. Nell

Nell, a content creator from Europe, did something very interesting on the morning of her wedding. Before the ceremonies began, she arranged a yoga session for herself and her guests to refresh both their minds and bodies before the celebrations. It helped everyone feel grounded and energised as they stepped into the big day.

4. Skulptedbykan

Imagine being at a wedding and instead of drinking lemonade to get over last night's cocktail hangover  , you are getting an iv drip for hydration . That's what Skulptedbykan do , they offer IV drip bars at weddings for getting immediate electrolytes and vitamins so you don't run out of energy for your next dance performance . And to prove that , they recently did the same at a destination wedding .

5. Softshadi

You must have taken care of your protein intake before the wedding, but what if it was well taken care of at your wedding too? Softshadi is making sure of it. They literally opened a protein bar at the wedding of a couple named Mihir and Kari. They made sure there was no compromise with your health, even at weddings.
