Lenovo Listed Among World’s Most Sustainable Companies for Third Consecutive Year!

Marking a hat-trick in its crusade for offering environmentally conscious technologies to consumers in 180 markets across the world, Lenovo has been ranked as one of the most sustainable companies in the world (2022) by clean capitalism advocacy organization Corporate Knights – for the third year in a row.

The annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rankings of Corporate Knights evaluated 7,000 global companies that generate above US$1 billion in revenue, on the basis of 23 parameters encompassing resource management, clean revenue, clean investment, employee management, financial management, and supplier performance.

Lenovo is committed to creating sustainable products and packaging, and has implemented several programs to achieve the goal of creating a brighter and smarter future – such as aiming to aggressively reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, in accordance with the latest climate science, with approval from the Science Based Targets initiative.

Pratima Harite, Head of Philanthropy & CSR Lenovo Asia Pacific, shares how these initiatives benefit customers as well as the planet, “It’s not just about running a sustainable company and contributing to society – it’s about helping the customers meet their own sustainability goals. Lenovo customers can buy devices that make direct use of post-consumer recycled materials; they can choose to offset the CO2 emissions of their devices at the point of purchase; they can turn to Lenovo to manage the end-of-life process for their tech equipment; and they can even rely on Lenovo to help them design more energy-efficient data centers. These initiatives help us meet ambitious commitments to address societal expectations, and to maintain a high standard of governance wherever we operate.”

Since 2008, the company has successfully eliminated 3,240 metric tonnes of packaging consumption by weight. The brand’s offerings cater to the conscious consumer by embedding sustainable features and materials in products and packaging. Mary Jacques, Director of Global Environmental Affairs and Sustainability, Lenovo, commented on the recognition by Corporate Knights, “Being part of the Global 100 ranking once again means a great deal to Lenovo. We understand that as a global technology leader, we have an important role to play in creating innovative technologies that benefit the health of our communities and environment.”

By delivering the power of user-friendly devices and infrastructure to its customers, and empowering them through a range of revolutionary services, software and solutions, Lenovo aims to build a digital society that is trustworthy, inclusive and sustainable. With its remarkable progress in this endeavour, the Fortune Global 500 company is blazing the trail for adopting environmentally responsible practices in the global tech landscape.
