First time at the spa? Take notes of these simple spa advice to avoid those touchy-feely blunders and enjoy your first trip! Spa treatments range from manicures, pedicures, massage, facials to body treatments. Just the thought of going to the spa for the first time is enough to make one anxious or nervous. Here are a few tips that will enable a newbie to navigate through their first spa visit. Notify the spa: Let the attendant know that it is your first spa visit when booking the appointment. You will then be at liberty to choose whether you prefer a male or female practitioner and also get to know more about the various types of treatments available to enable you to make an informed decision. Speak up: It is important to communicate with your therapist about what you want. This could be the temperature of the therapeutic bath, the amount of pressure exerted or where it hurts during the procedure to avoid feeling pain or lack of ease. This will also enable the practitioner to know the areas to focus on. Relax: A first-time spa-goer should try to relax as much as possible, especially because of the touchy-feely nature of a massage. A newbie may not be used to being physically touched by a stranger. Hydrate by drinking plenty of water before the exercise and take deep breaths. Trust me; this will go a long way to ensure you have an ultimate first-time spa experience. Prepare to go nude: As much as massage therapists have been trained to cover up a client during therapy for the purposes of modesty, it is impossible to avoid exposing some parts of your body during the procedure for a fulfilling massage. Remember you are dealing with professionals but most importantly remember that you are the boss and if you feel uncomfortable you can always request for paper panties.
