Meghavi Wellness spa, launches three Meghavi Wellness Air SpaLounges at Mumbai International Airport (T2), India's first-ever in-terminal wellness lounge.
Airports are rarely associated with calm. Between endless security lines, delayed flights, and the constant buzz of announcements, the terminal might feel like the least relaxing place on earth. But what if it becomes a sanctuary of wellness? Meghavi Wellness Spa—one of India’s largest spa chains—has reimagined what it means to travel in comfort with the launch of three Meghavi Wellness Air SpaLounges at Mumbai International Airport (T2), the country’s first-ever in-terminal wellness lounges.
In an exclusive conversation with GlobalSpa, Co-founder Prashant Jain shares how the idea was born, what makes the lounges unlike anything travellers have seen before, and why he believes the future of flying is inseparable from wellness.
1. What inspired you to bring the concept of a wellness lounge inside an airport terminal—a first for India?
Travel is exciting, but it is also exhausting. Between security queues, cramped seats, and red-eye flights, the modern traveller often arrives at their destination drained instead of refreshed. We saw this gap and wanted to change the script. The airport could be more than just a place of waiting—it could be a place of recovery. That vision gave birth to India’s first Air SpaLounge, where travellers can pause, reset, and reconnect with their bodies in the middle of their journey.
2. How are these lounges different from typical airport spas or waiting lounges travellers might have seen abroad?
Most airport spas are designed as transactional—quick 15-minute services for walk-ins. We wanted to elevate the concept. Our lounges function as mini-wellness retreats inside the terminal. The design uses soft lighting, signature scents, acoustic control, and ergonomic seating to cocoon the traveller from the bustle of the concourse.
What differentiates us further is infrastructure: zero-gravity chairs, vibroacoustic beds, private shower pods with curated amenity kits, couple therapy rooms, and 4-hands massage suites. Add to this a comprehensive menu that spans beauty, body therapies, and no-touch technologies, and you have an environment where wellness is not just a convenience—it’s a transformative experience.
3. What are some of the unique treatments or signature experiences found at the spa lounge?
We’ve brought the entire Meghavi repertoire into the airport, tailored for transit timeframes. Guests can choose from:
Our beauty rituals are equally popular: Gold, Vitamin C, and Detox facials; body polishes; and Dove signature body treatments like Mango Butter and Rice Milk.
For time-starved travellers, we created “Weariness to Wellness in 30 Minutes”—modules like Head & Neck Reset, Foot & Calf Recharge, and Back & Shoulder Unwind. For those with longer layovers, we offer Full Reset (60–90 min) and Body Connection (90–120 min). We’ve even curated Delayed Gratification Journeys for 2–3 hour transits, combining therapies into a holistic spa experience without leaving the terminal.
4. As one of India’s largest spa chains, how do you balance scale with maintaining quality and authenticity in your wellness offerings?
Scale only works if the experience is standardised and yet deeply personal. We have 55+ outlets in 20 cities, including 5 Air SpaLounges, and every single therapist is trained under our proprietary MSTAR Service Standards—11 touchpoints ranging from Pressure Perfect and Sacred Touch to Signature Steam and Recovery Tray with green tea detox.
We have trained and certified over 1,000 healers, and each one undergoes refreshers on empathy, draping, hygiene, and technique. Our processes ensure consistency, but it is the emotional intelligence of our team—the ability to understand a weary traveller’s body language—that makes the experience authentic.
5. What challenges did you face in setting up inside an airport?
Airports are among the most complex environments to operate in. Compliance, security, and space utilisation are all heavily regulated. The real challenge was not approvals—it was atmosphere. How do you create serenity in a high-traffic terminal?
We solved this by using sound engineering to filter terminal noise, layouts that ensure privacy, thermal control for comfort, and curated scent rituals that instantly signal calm. Even the design of our signage, uniforms, and menus had to communicate premium wellness while aligning with airport branding. The end result is a space that feels worlds apart, even though it is only steps away from departure gates.
6. What’s next for Meghavi Wellness? Do you plan to take the Air Spa Lounge concept to other airports?
Yes, expansion is our top priority. The response at Mumbai T2 has been overwhelming—we now operate three outlets in the same terminal (Domestic Big, Domestic Small, and International). This makes us the largest wellness presence in a single airport in India.
We are already in advanced discussions to take Air SpaLounges to other major hubs. Alongside that, our focus is on integration—airline partnerships, credit card tie-ups, and lounge aggregator collaborations (Priority Pass, DreamFolks, DragonPass, Diners, Visa, Amex, etc.)—so that wellness becomes as accessible as food courts and boarding passes. Our vision is “One Nation, One Membership, All Access”—a Wellness Passport that works across hotels and airports

7. What does wellness mean to you?
Wellness, to me, is balance. It’s about reaching your destination not just on time but in the right state of body and mind. It is not indulgence—it is preparedness. A 20-minute foot massage before boarding, or a shower that wipes away travel fatigue, can transform how you step into the next chapter of your journey. Wellness is not a pause from life; it is what helps you keep going.
8. How do you see India’s wellness industry evolving in the next decade?
India is uniquely positioned to lead. We are moving from wellness as luxury to wellness as necessity. Preventive care, mental well-being, and transit recovery will define the next phase. With our Ayurvedic heritage, spa innovation, and rising consumer awareness, India can set the global standard in structured, scalable wellness.
Ten years from now, I believe wellness will be as natural a part of travel as boarding a flight or swiping a credit card. Meghavi’s role is to make sure that whether it is a five-star hotel or an airport concourse, travellers always have a clear, reliable, and uplifting access point to wellness.
