The design of Walt.Weit Rheingau Hotel & Retreat in the Rheingau Region of Germany is inspired by the forest - its play of light and shadow, the trees, and the flora.
The road to Wald.Weit Rheingau Hotel & Retreat is very picturesque. It goes through the charming village called Kiedrich on the foothills of Hahnwald forest and as you drive past, you can spot the Rhine river through the leafy branches of trees along the winding road. Built between 1330 and 1380, it was elevated to the status of basilica minor by the Pope in 2010. The Schloss Johannisberg is special. The world's first Riesling vineyard is located in the Rheingau: wine has been cultivated on Johannisberg since 817. The Benedictine monastery here dates back to 1100 and Johannisberg Castle was built in 1716.
A must-visit is Rüdesheim, with the 38-metre high Niederwalddenkmal and the stunning giant statue of Germania. If you love music, visit the Rheingau Music Festival held in the summer months, that has notable performers from all over the world.
