MoShams, a Portal to Slow Living in Rishikesh

Far from the tourist-trail energy of Rishikesh, Moshams offers a luxurious retreat amid nature’s beauty.

MoShams is an ideal retreat if you are looking to skip crowded areas and spend some time in solitude around nature. The homestead will remind you of slow, relaxing days – perfect for a family vacation.

After a scenic 40-minute drive through lush forests, a picture-perfect valley road and the views of the Shivalik range, you arrive at MoShams, a serene homestead tucked away in the quiet village of Dagar near Narendra Nagar, Rishikesh. Perched amidst rolling hills, the place boasts six luxurious suites spread across four unique buildings, each with terraces. At the main block, you will find a suite, a dining room with a cantilevered alfresco setup that seems to float in the air, and a staircase leading to a mini pool that’s just the right size for a quick dip.

The property has made a very conscious space to ensure the preservation of land, flora and fauna. You will also find the use of natural and local materials like natural stones in and around the space. Inside your room, the glass walls will bring nature right to your doorstep, along with an en-suite bathroom and luxurious amenities. You can pick from a range of accommodation options, whether it’s a room with a plunge pool, a balcony with a view, or a spacious studio. The rooms are inspired by the FIVE natural elements that represent the fundamental aspects of the universe: Space (Aksha), Fire (Jwala), Water (Tera), Air (Vaata), and Earth (Dhara).

In the kitchen, simplicity reigns supreme, but lo and behold the taste. You will be served a mix of authentic Indian and international dishes, whipped up with seasonal ingredients from nearby farms and the surrounding forests. From protein-packed black soybean daal to Garhwali chutney and Shams’ legendary Bengali recipes, your taste buds are in for a treat. And if you’re into healthy eating, there’s a special focus on complex fibers, macrobiotics, and regional superfoods. Additionally, you can also ask to set up a barbecue at the rooftop, surrounded by the beauty of mountains.

The property also offers you multiple activities to keep you entertained and relaxed. If you are planning to stay in, spend your days with a spa session or a yoga class, or take a dip in the pool. For a bit of fun, you can also play board games and recreational activities—perfect for family bonding or friendly competition. For those who want to explore the surrounding areas, you can  hike through lush forests, trek to Kunjapuri Temple, experience the mesmerising Ganga Aarti or relax in meadows filled with birdsong. The property also arranges white-water river rafting & kayaking for an adrenaline experience.
