HYATT REGENCY, DELHI

In order to eliminate plastic from its perimeters, luxury hotel Hyatt Regency Delhi had recently launched its own in-house water bottling plant. A specially constructed sterile room equipped with the latest machinery has been constructed within a record two and a half months. By switching to reusable bottles, the hotel’s fully automated water bottling plant aims to eradicate approximately 1.8 million (18 lakhs) plastic bottles a year; saving 28 tons (25,400 kg) of plastic waste each year.

PROJECT GATHERING The ‘Cinnamon Elephant Project’ is a collaborative effort between Cinnamon Hotels and the Centre for Conservation and Research that started in 2014 as an initiative to integrate long-term conservation efforts of the endangered Asian elephant, and inclusive ecotourism practices through elephant viewing based on the annual elephant gathering. PROJECT WHALE is an initiative aimed at studying and preserving the Blue Whale population of Sri Lanka.

An upscale beach hotel by the Bay, Sheraton Grand Chennai has tended with Bisleri to return empty bottles for recycling and the same department has also been working with suppliers to avoid plastic rather use cardboard and paper. The hotel’s constructed an in-house water treatment system from which the water is used in maintaining the spanning gardens. Sheraton Grand Chennai is also stepping on the last stage of converting fully to wind energy, a renewable source to utilize.

As part of the Hilton group of brands, Conrad Hotel & Resorts Bengaluru has committed to reduce their carbon footprint in half by 2030.
