Weaving 75 years of Indo-Thai Friendship

As part of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Thailand, The Royal Embassy of Thailand organised an exhibition and discussion on the historical role of bilateral ties through textile heritage.

Although the relations between Thailand and India have been longer than 75 years, this event was to commemorate 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. It was organised by Thailand India and ICCR- Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

The ties between the two countries was interestingly depicted through the Thai Silk Exhibition, which highlighted and raised awareness about heirloom, textiles, and exquisite Thai Silk. There was a demonstration of Thai costumes and DIY Mudmee flower pin which were very charming. An interesting insight was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Anucha Thirakanot, Dean Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Thammasat University, on Thai Silk and the origins of Silk in India.

Meenakshi Lekhi, minister of state for external affairs was present at the event hosted by Pattarat Hongton, Ambassador of Thailand to India. The event concluded with authentic thai-style high tea and delicacies.
