“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.
Jessica Singh Gandhi is the founder of Stanley Communications, a PR and Brand Consulting Firm which is your fix to all things digital.
What is your wellness philosophy?
Over the years, the term wellness has evolved to encompass taking care of our body, mind, soul, and overall health. Looking back at myself four years ago, when I was starting my business, I constantly pushed myself to work long hours despite my body not being able to keep up. I have come to understand that wellness means taking care of myself in a holistic manner, as I can only give as much as I have. For me, wellness is an ever-changing concept that shifts with different life stages and roles.
Your success mantra?
My mantra for success is to work diligently, savor life's pleasures to the fullest, and then resume work with even greater intensity the next day. I firmly believe that it's essential to prioritize one's well-being and feel good to perform at one's best. Building empires or achieving dreams cannot be done alone. That's why I am an advocate for collaboration and teamwork, as working alongside others is the key to success.
A lesson you learned from making a mistake?
As a young entrepreneur who started at the age of 22, I've learned numerous valuable lessons from the mistakes I've made. Mistakes are inevitable at every stage of life, as we're constantly learning and growing. From managing finances to team building and delegation, I used to find these tasks daunting. However, I've come to realize that relying solely on myself makes my business unscalable. Making mistakes is a beautiful aspect of entrepreneurship because it allows you to forge your own path and learn from your experiences.
Any piece of advice for all the women out there?
Rather than calling it advice, I would like to offer some encouraging words to those who may need it: You're doing great, and it's time to stop being so hard on yourself. We tend to be our own harshest critics, but it's essential to be kind to ourselves. So, take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishments and recognize that you're doing a fantastic job. Remember to be gentle with yourself and continue moving forward with confidence.
What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?
My biggest pride is the brand itself. We are taking baby steps and have miles to go, but I am proud of what we have achieved so far. To have a passion and see through it for another day is a blessing. Along with my team, who motivates me every day to stand up for what we truly believe & build together.
