The best-learnt life experiences are the ones that come with experience and unpredictability. while, there is a lot of uncertainty and trepidation, leaving your comfort zone and setting out on the open roads, teaches you some of the best life lessons and a chance to experience adventure like never before!

A person is but a product of life experiences. What we grow and evolve into as individuals is the reflection of our learnings of the past and our perception of the future. While there are many ways beyond the conventional methods that we learn from, motorcycling is one such passion-driven hobby that transforms a person and inculcates values that help in becoming a better individual.

Avid Motorcyclist, Sami Sayyed, shares 4 important values of life that you learn while being on the saddle.

1.) Humility

Motorcyclists travel the lengths and breadth of geographies with a quest to explore different terrains, cultures and cuisines. However, more than anything, they travel to discover themselves. On the journey to distant destinations across the map, motorcycling enables you to realise the exponentiality of this world and the fact that you are just one soul out of the zillion out there, doing what you are supposed to. As Motorcyclists, you end up meeting people from eclectic backgrounds, ethnicity and races and listen to life experiences that at times leave you spellbound. This is what makes you face the fact that you have only done this much and there is a lot more to do, eventually instilling a sense of humility.

2.) Determination

The journey of a hundred miles starts with a single step. Motorcyclists are that breed who brave anything and everything to reach their destination. Traversing across unexplored roads is what motorcycling is all about. Be it tarmac plains, dense fog, snow-clad mountains, unsettling riverbeds or scorching deserts, a motorcyclist will never be averse to any situation, or any calamity. The art of finding comfort in discomfort is mastered by a few Motorcyclists. The undying spirit of going on irrespective of the weather or road condition is nothing else but the determination and the go-getter attitude that leads them to their destination. This trait teaches one to be focused on their goals in day-to-day life and ensure they achieve it, no matter what the circumstances.

3.) Calmness & Gratitude

Motorcycling as a passion comes with its own set of risks and challenges. The situation of a motorcyclist on the journey is unpredictable. From a flat-tyre to a major breakdown, there are situations that put their patience to the test. However, one will not see any expression of disappointment or helplessness despite any such encounters. The calmness on the rider’s face will stay intact and you will find them being grateful for being saved from the worse. Likewise, we must also practise being calm and composed when we go through challenging times in day-to-day life and we must remember the things we are blessed with and should be grateful for.

4.) Life goes on

Endless roads, unknown geographies and unpredictable climates, Motorcyclists go on anyway. This is what the journey is all about. Losing track of the route and being without GPS support are situations that can put motorcyclists in a troublesome situation. Wrong direction, dead-ends, unavailability of gas, the challenges are many. However, Motorcycling is about daring the situation with calculated risk and somehow continuing the journey.

Similarly, when we feel clueless and lost about which direction life is taking us, we must stay strong and keep looking forward to each day with a fresh smile. As we move forward, eventually we will start seeing a clearer picture. Overall, one must ensure to be safer than sorry, while riding or taking life decisions as we can control only what we can see. Having said that, we must put on the best gear of confidence and live life in the 6th gear of energy and enthusiasm.
