Songkran on a Plate, Savour Thai Flavours Here

An afternoon of Thai flavours at Easy Tiger by Boraan? Count me in.

I recently found myself at Easy Tiger by Boraan in Gurugram, a name that had been on my foodie radar for a while. And what better time to visit than during their special Songkran menu, curated to celebrate the Thai New Year? Known for blending time-honoured Thai recipes with a contemporary twist, this place has always celebrated authenticity, but during Songkran, they dial it up several notches.

Each dish I tried told a story of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage, of age-old traditions, and of course, of the festive spirit that defines Songkran.

I kicked things off with the Crunchy Wonton in peanut sauce, and let me just say—complete love at first bite. Perfectly crisp, with that nutty, umami-rich sauce clinging to every corner. Then came the Summer Rolls, bursting with freshness. It’s hard to explain how refreshing they were without sounding dramatic, but imagine wrapping up summer in rice paper and taking a bite.

But the real showstopper? Peppercorn Tiger Prawns tossed in fresh Thai herbs. Surprisingly, one of my unexpected favorites was the Tofu in lemongrass and coconut curry. Creamy, comforting, and deeply flavorful, it redefined what tofu could taste like. And yes, I obviously couldn’t miss out on the dumplings and baos from their regular menu.

Now, no meal feels complete without something sweet, and the Mango Sticky Rice Sundae from the Songkran menu was exactly what I needed. Fresh mango, coconut ice cream, pandan-infused sticky rice—it was Thailand in a bowl. If you’ve ever had mango sticky rice on the streets of Chiang Mai or Bangkok, you’ll know what I mean when I say this version felt just right.

Beyond the food, it was the warm, genuine Thai hospitality that made the afternoon unforgettable. From the servers to the bartender, everyone welcomed us with infectious smiles and a sincere excitement to share their favorite dishes.

There may not have been a water fight, but Easy Tiger by Booran captured something deeper—the spirit of Songkran. That sense of renewal, celebration, and connection flowing through every bite.
