For most people repeating clothes is considered a faux pas in the world of fashion. However, if you are someone who likes to follow and experiment with upcoming fashion trends, there’s no need to 'add to cart', each time you wish to keep up with a trend! All you need to do is take a deeper look into your closet and find inspiration! Isha Borah, an Internationally Acclaimed Assamese Fashion Content Creator shares some tips and tricks to reuse your old clothes and give them a fresh new avatar.
Old is gold - this is quite a common phrase that is often used to equate the value and goodness of old things to that of gold. And most of the time, this comparison stands justified. Let’s elaborate on this by taking the example of fashion. There are several old trends that have not gone into oblivion completely. For instance, mom jeans, scrunchies, varsity jackets, and slip dresses among others. These trends were a rage in the early 90s. Fast forward to 2022, the same trends have been revived and they are now dominating the fashion world. From street fashion to runways, these styles are commonly tweaked and flaunted. So, when it comes to styling and fashion, you can, without putting much thought, also reuse your old clothes which you have stacked somewhere in your old wardrobe or suitcase and wear them to look chic and smart.
With a little modification here and there, you can give your old clothes a trendy new look. And what better way to start experimenting with your old clothes than now when the winter season is right here! Check below some of the styles that can be recreated by reusing old winter clothes:
Leggings and Sweaters
If you have Indian wear in your wardrobe, there is a high chance that you will also have a pair of leggings. You can pull out your pair of leggings and team it up with a slightly oversized pullover sweater. In case, you do not have an oversized sweater, you can stick to a regular-sized one. To complete the look, accessorize it with a scarf and wear a pair of boots or sneakers. If it is too cold, then instead of leggings, you can opt for thermal leggings. This is a classic look that will suit everyone. Plus, this outfit may also make you look taller and leaner.
Rib-knit Cardigans and Straight Jeans
A winter wardrobe without a cardigan is incomplete. Knitted chunky cardigans that were a staple winter wear some years back have now made an entry into the fashion world again. If you have a knitted chunky cardigan stored somewhere in your winter wardrobe, it is time to bring it out again. If you do not have a chunky one, then you can simply opt for just a rib-knit cardigan and wear it with a pair of straight-cut jeans. However, to look your best, you may want to slightly tuck in your cardigan. You can skip this step if your cardigan is cropped or short in length. To get the complete look, team up your outfit with a pair of sneakers or loafers.
Flannels and Turtlenecks
The flannel shirt and turtleneck combination can hardly go wrong. And, this combination of clothes is something which most of us already have. So, you can gladly take advantage of these two pieces of clothing this winter. To look chic and smart, all you need to do is layer your flannel shirt over a turtleneck and pair this combination with a short skirt. To beat the cold, you can opt for a pair of black-coloured thermal stockings. Now all you need is a pair of ankle-length boots or a pair of loafers to complete the outfit and look your best.
If you do not have a skirt, you can opt for regular jeans. And if you do not have a flannel shirt, then you can opt for any plain-coloured shirt and layer it over a turtleneck. To complete the look, you can opt for a pair of tan-coloured or beige trousers. If you have kept your trousers only for office wear, then you can select a pair of denim to complete the look.
