When we think about luxurious fabrics, rich textures, and embroidery on effortless cuts, designer Tammana Punjabi Kapoor instantly comes to mind. From designing her own wardrobe since childhood to becoming a sought-after designer, she has indeed come a long way.
The self-taught designer’s label took shape in 2002 as a mere case of ‘luck by chance’, as she likes to call it. It has been 21 years since, and her line of eponymous clothing, featuring intricate embroidery and contemporary silhouettes, has become a top choice for brides across the nation. We sat down with her to learn more about her journey in fashion design, her muse, the popularity of her stunning bridalwear, and more.
How would you describe your journey in the fashion world, and what motivated you to start your own label?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: I was born to make clothes. I simply see it that way. I started dabbling with design at a really early age, and everyone at home will confirm that. Recognising my proficiency, I was confident that I could not only make a living but thrive in the realm of fashion.

Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: A ‘Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor’ bride keeps it simple and stays true to her style with a minimalistic approach.
Your label has gained fervour among several celebrities. How does their influence impact the evolution of your designs and brand visibility?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: We live in a Bollywood crazy society. I would have to be lying if I said that a garment worn by a celebrity doesn’t become the flavour of that season, but it doesn’t really influence my design aesthetics. The evolution of my design might have changed a bit keeping the new-age bride in mind, and that’s what has had an evolution to some extent.
Sustainability and ethical fashion are increasingly significant in the industry. How does your brand approach these aspects?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: Sustainability is an inclusive term, and it’s hard to keep all aspects in mind, particularly with couture. However, we always make sure to use and reuse our clothes, particularly the classics, which can be in your wardrobe forever.
As brides opt for more minimalistic weddings, what colours will dominate this wedding season?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: I am a lover of pastels and creams, and I believe these colours will be prominent during the wedding season, alongside the timeless classic red.
Which bridal couture and festive wear trends will rule this season?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: For bridal wear, I think that Princess Diana’s veil is really in trend. However, the real standout in this season’s trends will be the saree. With its timeless appeal and versatility, it is poised to reign supreme, offering brides a classic and sophisticated choice.
Lastly, any style tip that you would like to share for a bride to slay in her bridal outfit?
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor: Don’t be weighed down. Wear what looks good on you and not what’s trending necessarily. Open hair with a head dupatta isn’t a thing for everyone. So keep what suits you most in mind. And just have fun!
