Fronting Bata’s ‘Make Your Way’ campaign, actress Sanjana Sanghi reflects on comfort, slowing down and why the Victoria Ballerina feels made for the rhythm of modern life.
Comfort-first fashion is increasingly shaping the way women dress today, and footwear is no exception. With the launch of its renewed Victoria Ballerina collection under the ‘Make Your Way’ campaign, Bata India returns to a silhouette that has long been part of its design legacy—this time reimagined for a generation that values ease, versatility, and understated style.
Fronting the campaign is actor Sanjana Sanghi, whose personal style reflects ease and practicality. Through the campaign, Bata places the classic ballerina shoe centre stage, highlighting how a timeless design continues to evolve alongside contemporary lifestyles.

Inspired by Europe’s classical dance lineage, ballerina flats were originally designed for balance and fluid movement. The refreshed collection focuses on comfort and functionality without losing its feminine appeal. Lightweight soles, soft materials, and easy-to-wear silhouettes make the shoes suited to long workdays, travel, and everyday errands. The campaign film, shot in Madrid, captures this sense of ease and movement—mirroring the spirit of the ‘Make Your Way’ philosophy.
In conversation with Sanjana Sanghi
What does “ease” mean to you?
For me, ease means both comfort and style, and that is exactly what the Victoria Ballerinas mean to me.
After a long day, what actually helps you unwind?
I’ve learned to reflect back on my days and spend that moment in gratitude.
What are your non-negotiables when it comes to footwear?
Comfort, always. When I slide my feet into a pair of shoes, it should feel grounding. With my Victoria ballerinas, I feel both comfortable and confident.
What is your wellness mantra right now?
It’s evolving. Throughout my early teens and twenties, I was someone who pushed too hard. Now I’m trying to learn how to slow down.
One word you associate with modern Indian women?
Relentless. We don’t take 'no' for an answer.
One fashion trend you’re loving—and one you think should disappear?
I’m not very trend-driven. I’ve always been drawn to things that are classic and timeless.
What about the Victoria Ballerina collection resonated with you?
Apart from style and comfort going hand-in-hand, I love that they’re democratisers. Every woman can feel like she belongs to them. They create a sense of belonging while also allowing individuality, which is very rare.
If your Victoria Ballerinas could join you on one adventure, where would they take you?
They already did—they took me to Madrid, where we shot the campaign!
What’s next for you?
There’s a lot in the pipeline. I’m exploring languages beyond Hindi, which is very exciting, and there’s also a lot happening on the global stage.
