Bespoke Home Therapy with Renee Grandi

Going live with Renee Grandi, Nutritionist, and Naturopath at Chiva-Som Thailand, we explored our many options on how to bring therapy and good health straight into our homes.

Sometimes, the most we can do is make the best of our situation. With quarantine in progress, there’s no better time or opportunity to grab to take time to ourselves, look within, and heal. Carrying the same sentiment forward, we went live with Chiva-Som Thailand’s Renee Grandi - a certified Nutritionist and Naturopath, where she helped our viewers understand the many ways to decoding therapy at home.

From demonstrating deep breathing exercises and finding what works best for you to what foods to avoid and what to change in our daily lives, here’s what we took from the Instagram Live...

POSITIVE FOODS ...

Renee says, “You really want to be reducing down on high carbs because the immune system then has more inflammation and more to clean up. Don’t overdose on having rice or pasta for every meal, rather try and just once or twice a day. Make your diet predominantly green. Bring in green vegetables and herbal tea for a healthy home delivered boost.

HERBAL TEA HYDRATES

“Use Bael fruit, a lot of ginger, and some cinnamon sticks. Boil it for an hour, sometimes for another 2-3 hours. I make a big batch and it tastes pretty bitter but you can add some water or ice. It is great for immunity and blood purification.”

NATUROPATHY NURTURES

As the heart releases its own hormones, it is important to keep that in mind. “If you’re someone who’s struggling with relationships, nutritional problems, or stress, it’s important to dive in and check in what specifically is your issue. Prioritise self-introspection. We’re locked away in our rooms, we don’t have distractions around so the best thing we can do is listen to our body.”

“I love practising deep breathing and checking in on my own self. It’s a different type of meditation. Then once you start listening to your body, you start to tune into issues. In the morning is good too, but tuning into your own self at night is also great.” Renee adds.

GETTING TO MEDITATE

“Sometimes the point is not to clear the mind, but to listen,” answers Renee, “Listen, work through it, create solutions in your mind to get to that point of ease. Also, deep breathing is not going to work for everyone. It’s about finding what makes you feel good whether that be going out and doing something physical or putting on some nice music.” Renee further explains, “I like the idea of creating. It’s like a fresh space. If you’re the one cooking for the family, it’s hard to say but try to get them involved and if they’re not, make it a time where you can dance around the kitchen with some nice music. It’s really just about manipulating your environment to be positive because those inputs we’ve been getting all the time can be negative and bombard us and that creates our reality that makes this cycle hard to get out of. Don’t get into that state and simply help yourself in what works for you!”
