GlobalSpa goes Instagram Live with Founder and Medical Director of ISAAC Luxe, Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta, to decipher skincare during lockdown and beyond.
Our skin’s needs change as seasons change, and this is undoubtedly one tough season for all of us both physically and emotionally. Listening to our skin’s needs and implementing them is essential, and that’s exactly why Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta, Founder, and Director, ISAAC Luxe, shared her best tips and tricks for the best lockdown skincare survival.
In conversation with the board-certified dermatologist, here’s what we discovered during the live...
BASICS OF SKINCARE DURING LOCKDOWN
“This is the perfect time for a skin detox,” suggests Dr. Geetika, “Stay away from makeup and make sure to declutter your vanity during this time. Most of all, stick to your dermatologist's recommended skin routine. You can also try the Korean 10-step skincare."
Since we’re all dealing with some form of stress during this time, stress acne is an emerging skin issue, Dr. Geetika says, “There’s so much news and information, and we’re all dealing with our own problems as well. It’s best to stick to the right news and make sure you’re eat healthy and avoid binge-eating.”
MUST-DO DURING LOCKDOWN
As much as DIYs are in right now, Dr. Geetika clarifies, “Don't do any DIY, especially those using AHAs and BHAs. If your skin is more mature and healthier, then surely go ahead. DIY is not meant for everyone, so make sure you do a patch test before. As for DIY masks, clay masks are only for oily skin like besan, while hydrating ones like honey and yogurt are best for dry skin. Choose wisely.”
TREATING DARK CIRCLES AT HOME
Binge-watchers and night owls assemble. Dr. Geetika shares the easiest at-home remedy for those dark circles. “Don't sleep on your face, avoid caffeine, eat a diet low in salt, have one rich in minerals, and introduce vitamins in your diet. Iron and zinc supplementation also work well and are important. You can also try compressing green tea bags on your undereye bags or you can just put your spoon in the freezer and press it under your eyes. Practice every hour or so and use eye drops to keep lubricating.”
FOODS FOR A HYDRATED SKIN
Dr. Geetika says there’s really no shortcut for glowing skin. “Choose anti inflammatory and alkaline foods, avocados, seeds, fatty acids, and green juices. Make sure to include haldi as well since it is a good inflammatory and immunity-booster filled with macrominerals. You can even make turmeric latte with turmeric, peppercorn, milk, and water and have it everyday!”
WHAT’S THE FIRST TREATMENT ONE SHOULD GET AFTER LOCKDOWN?
“Everyone would be having congested skin. Go for facials like Hydra facials or Skin Oasis treatment to remove blackheads, whiteheads and hydrate your skin completely.”
BEST VITAMIN C SERUMS
https://www.instagram.com/p/B3rkoDHimn9/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link“My recommendations would be the Sesderma C-Vit Liposomal Serum, FCL "C" Scape Serum 25, Clinical Genic C- Serum or Active Serum. They’re all potent and extremely good. Make sure you use very small amounts lest your skin will be irritated.”
LATEST IN ANTI-AGEING TREATMENTS
Dr. Geetika unveils, “I’m exploring treatments of a more non-invasive nature because I think people would want results without going under the knife, needles, and any downtime and pain. We’ve introduced a new treatment called Pink Anti-Ageing in which microinfusion of 56 active ingredients once in a week for 4 weeks is done. It infuses vitamins, proteins, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glutathiones, amino acids, and microchannels inside so your skin glows from within.”
INJECTABLE INFUSIONS: THE NEXT BIG THING?
“We have an exclusive franchise with international brand Revive US where we’ve introduced these IV Wellness Drips or immunity-boosting drips called mega boost in which high quality of vitamin C is found. It’s said to be protective when it comes to COVID-19 or any other flu.”
“We also have glow drip, hangover, hydration and jet lag drips studied and certified by international doctors and available since 2002. It’s more like a juice bar. One can just walk in and get them unless of course, they have a medical condition.” adds Dr. Gupta.
The Following suit, Dr. Geetika answered our viewer’s questions from about micro-blading for brows and dermablading for the face to supplements for hair fall; blood work for premature grey hairs, getting rid of dark eyes using potato juice as ice cubes under your eye, treatments for pigmentation, how collagen is a long-time commitment and finally, how 80% diet and 20% exercise matters for your skin.
