A direct result of the pandemic has weighed down on the beauty industry. Here’s what your favorite beauty brands are doing to support the community and fight strongly against COVID-19.

L’OREAL

World’s one of the biggest brands, L’Oreal has pledged to donate $720,000 (INR 5,47,90,200) to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to assist in providing medical supplies, masks, and protective gear. The brand has also recently declared it’ll be using all its manufacturing units to make hand sanitizers and hydro alcoholic gel for distribution amongst Europe.

LVMH

The world’s largest luxury seller, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy is beheading a powerful initiative with its brands Dior, Givenchy, and more. LVMH has transitioned its various facilities for the production of 12 tons of hydro alcoholic gel (alcohol-based hand rub gel) by this week. Due to the lesser availability of this gel in France, LVHM will be distributing these for free across French hospitals. They’ve also pledged $2.3 million (INR 17,50,76,000) to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation.

The Body Shop has led many initiatives when it comes to matters that matter, and this time too the brand has stepped up and will be donating 30,000 units of its cleansing products to shelters and senior communities all across United States and Canada.

ESTEE LAUDER

New York based Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has planned to reopen its manufacturing unit in Melville, N.Y. for producing hand sanitizers for “high-need groups” and the medical staff.

The L’Occitane Group has pledged to distribute 25,000 units of soap and hand creams to all employees of Assistance Publique – Hopitaux de Paris. What’s more is they’ve planned to manufacture 70,000 units of hand sanitizers for the health authorities and healthcare workers in France.

Lady Gaga’s Haus Laboratories might be a new venture, but it’s profusely supporting the situation by pledging to donate 20 percent of last week’s online profits to Los Angeles and New York food banks.

SHISEIDO

Asian brand Shiseido is gearing up to reopen its New Jersey facility after April 6th to manufacture hand sanitizers for the people.

UNILEVER

The group has pledged to donate 50 million euros (INR 4,16,00,23,828) in aid as well as work in association with the UK government to provide about 20 million personal and hygiene care products to the developing nations.

Vilvah has been able to manufacture hand sanitisers which they supply to people at high risk of exposure and who have to continue their jobs despite the situation. To help disadvantaged individuals, the Indian skin and hair care brand manufactured 70 per cent isopropyl alcohol-based sanitizer at its facility and distributed to healthcare front liners, essential service delivery partners and NGOs in need.

M.A.C Cosmetics

M.A.C Cosmetics announced that its long-standing VIVA GLAM campaign – which supports organizations and programs providing essential needs and services to vulnerable communities – will accelerate a $10 million USD donation to 250 organizations, enabling them to continue their vital services in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finding the beauty in the bad, these companies are coming out strong and voicing against the pandemic.
