6 simple tips to retain the glow on your skin post-Diwali

Festival season out, breakout season is in! Follow these simple tips and tricks by Dr. Niranjana Raj and heal your skin back to normal post-Diwali.   The festive season is getting over and it is time to hit the life back, isn’t it?  All this while, everyone was busy preparing for Diwali, buying gifts, bingeing into their favorite sweets and enjoying the festivities.    As the festivities ends now it’s time to stop ignoring our body and make some effort towards it as the result of ignorance can be seen on our skin and hair. Both our hair and skin losses its glow and freshness as a result of a lot of factors including post Diwali pollution. So here’s some guide to keep your skin healthy post heavy festive feasting!   1) Detox your body and skin   Always keep in mind to let the skin and body relax and replenish. We all try various makeup products for our multiple looks and also have feasted upon several oily foods and sweets, which will obviously show its effect on your body and skin and this can ultimately lead to breakouts. But post this festive season, you should opt for foods with less oil and spices and most specifically drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. Also, you can sip on detoxing green tea. Try and let your internal system flush out the toxins!   2) Follow a cleansing routine   Post this Diwali keep a regular cleansing routine for your skin. Have some sessions of deep cleansing, scrubbing and toning. Remember to indulge yourself into a constant skin care routine to make sure everyday skin prepping and glow. Also, invest in some good cleanser, deep pore scrub and a brilliant toner for your skin type just to make sure you hydrate your skin properly overnight.   3) Get a facial   Keep in mind to book an appointment for your facials! As we all know, intensive facial routine helps removing pigmentation and also makes our pores clean from within! You can also go for dermatologists and cosmetologists for medi-facials. As during these festive seasons we load a lot of makeup on our skin which can block the skin pores and therefore, they need to be scrubbed out to make sure our skin breathe properly!   4) Avoid makeup   During these festive seasons we apply different cosmetics to have a certain look and in addition to it our skin also faces different kind of pollution which occurs post Diwali. These factors block the pores of our skin and do not allow the skin to breathe. Therefore, we highly recommend you to avoid these cosmetics makeup for a while and allow the newly cleansed skin to breathe! As we detox the impurities of our skin, we need to let it breathe too. So, try and avoid heavy foundations and concealers and stick to a good and thick moisturizers and make sure to use sunscreen always!   5) Eat healthy food   During Diwali, we feast on oily foods and sweets and don’t think about its after effect. Our diet plays a major role when we talk about our skin. So, post Diwali, go for healthy food and fruits; and enrich your body with nutrients. You can also try detox water and vegetable smoothies. These little steps can help you rejuvenate your body both inside out and making your skin glow!   6) Make serum your best friend   Facial oils and serums help in polishing our skin and make it shine. Go and search for a serum that suits your skin type. Every night pat your skin with facial oils and infuse it with necessary nutrients!   So take a time off from your routine for your skin and make them soft and smooth again! Post Diwali get back what has been taken and rejuvenate your skin again with some simple steps.
