Looking closely at the beauty trends from homemade peels and masks to clean beauty, these are the 5 trends in the sphere that are set to dominate for the rest of this year.
1) SKINCARE OVER COSMETICS
Gone are the days of elaborate five step multi routine. Today's brands are looking at a more holistic approach to beauty and simplifying skincare, as the market shifts towards minimalism. The buzzword today is: 'Skinimalism’. In 2022, extensive multi-step routines will be replaced by a more personalized skincare approach to product usage based on customers’ skin types, needs and preferences. Due to the growing demand from customers, brands are simplifying skincare routines and are now prioritising quality over quantity. The beauty market is moving towards hybrid natural products with skin benefits that are also good for body care - an emerging beauty category that is set to blossom this year. People are shifting from solving their skin issues like blemishes and wrinkles to being more focused on improving their skin health and taking a holistic approach when it comes to skincare and beauty.
2) NATURAL, HOMEMADE PEELS AND MASKS
Natural, homemade peels and masks have come again to the forefront due to the lack of access to beauty products during the pandemic and the trend is here to remain. Another reason that is driving the growth of homemade peels and masks is due to the increased time spent on mobile and tech devices and so there is an increased demand for jaw and neck treatments to tackle sagging jaw lines and necks.
The fact is that homemade peels and masks are easy and simple to make and apply and are as good as salon treatments. Using natural ingredients not only means zero side effects from harmful elements but they also benefit the skin. As people spend more time at home during the pandemic due to work from home, this trend is set to grow for the rest of this year.
3) THE BLURRING OF BEAUTY AND WELLNESS
There is a wellness revolution that is sweeping our planet today. People no longer want beauty products only. They want products that are not only good for their skin but also for their health in the long run. The market is shifting towards a holistic approach to wellness where beauty, skincare and health blend in to give the customer the ultimate experience.
We can see the demand for protein powders and adaptive gummies grow just as much as beauty and skincare products. Wellness fragrances and dental care merging with beauty are some of the new ways how wellness and beauty is merging together. In the new era, brands not only have to differentiate themselves but also communicate how their products are good for the overall well-being of its users.
4) SUSTAINABILITY AND CLEAN BEAUTY
https://www.instagram.com/p/CAIYOaDlT-x/Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword today. Consider this, the growth in clean and sustainable beauty products have outperformed the total beauty category in each of the last four years. Sustainability and clean beauty is here to stay as consumers become increasingly aware of the harmful effect of harsh substances on their skin and overall wellbeing and the impact of what they consume and which brand they support on the planet. The consumer today reads ingredient labels to avoid toxic ingredients, and is looking for a holistic approach to their beauty and skincare. Brands that support sustainability and clean beauty are all set to grow this year.
5) INFLUENCER OR PERSONALITY-LED BRANDS
Today, beauty is experiencing the ‘cult of personality' brands and it is all set to rise. Gen Z thrives on social media. No wonder personality led brands that are founded or championed by celebs or influencers are growing in demand. Another thing that is contributing to the growth of this trend is smart marketing by brands like influencer marketing and brand tie ups.
In the coming years, people will gravitate towards beauty brands that they feel connected to on a personal level, champion or supports a cause they are vocal about like sustainability and that takes a holistic approach to beauty by blending beauty and wellness.
