Celebrating the Doyenne: Pooja Baheti

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, GlobalSpa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into their success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

With a desire to bridge the parallel universe of a homegrown western wear and the needs of modern Indian women, Pooja Baheti founded Poppi. Poppi is a celebration of a woman’s heritage while giving it a twist of flirty, chic, and feminine semblance.

What is your wellness philosophy?

Staying happy, finding joy in small things & being active. Add at least 7 hours of good sleep to this and it’s the perfect recipe for wellness.

Your success mantra?

Persistence, patience and confidence!

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

The more you hang on to mistakes, the deeper you fall in. If you make a mistake it’s okay to sulk. But give yourself a time limit. After that, you need to get up, dust yourself off and keep moving on!

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Websites, articles, magazines, all label themselves “for women” and claim to have us all figured out. But trust me, I’m a woman – and sometimes even I’m a little lost. It’s okay to be lost and it’s okay to be figuring our ways out. We don’t have to fit into the labels the society has created for us – to be a good daughter, wife or mother. Just be you. 100% authentic you, in any way that you want to be. You don’t have to be anything, except your glorious, perfectly imperfect self.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

Having started a fast growing fashion brand that includes a wonderful team of strong and inspirational women is definitely something I’m super proud of.
