Do’s and Dont’s of Beauty During Quarantine

Things have rapidly changed. You are quarantined in your own house waiting to shine again. Well, don’t let this sudden change take a toll on your beauty. Here are some Dos and Don’ts by Lalita Arya, Vice President- Dermapuritys. These are to remind yourself that everything can wait but beauty must last, even in lockdowns.

The following aren’t makeup quick-fixes but lifestyle tips to look evergreen and beautiful, because makeup is art but beauty is spirit. Keep the spirits high and happy quarantining.

DO’S OF BEAUTY DOING QUARANTINE–

Needless to say, being beautiful starts within. Taking care of your health is as important if not more. Align your well-being by taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually. Practice indoor exercises and yoga to get the fluid inside moving, drink 4-5 liters of water and juices and indulge in activities that give your health various benefits.

Since you must be washing your hands frequently, but do not forget to apply moisturizer as washing hands can dry and affect the softness of your hand’s skin and can even cause skin allergies.

Exfoliate your skin using gentle home-made scrubs to get rid of dead skin cells once or twice a week and cleanse your face twice in a day. Also, do hydrate your skin.

Use a sunscreen, yes, you heard us right – UV radiations contain both UVA and UVB so while UVB cannot penetrate indoor, UVA can. Apply sunscreen of lower SPF.

DON’TS OF BEAUTY DOING QUARANTINE –

Don’t avoid your Do’s is pretty much the most important Don’t.

Don’t take being indoor as an excuse to avoid your skincare regime. Double Cleanse, ideally you should be washing your face twice a day (once in the morning and once at night) as well as after workouts or any other excessive sweating.

Don’t skip antioxidants, a diet high in antioxidants may reduce the risk of many diseases, including heart disease and certain cancers but it also keeps a check on the line and wrinkles on your skin.

Don’t go over the boat with exfoliation (Once or twice in a week is good) because if you overdo, you’re your skin might become acne-prone skin. Your skin also becomes sensitive and then rashes may occur on your skin. Talking of acnes, it’s important to remind yourself not to pick acnes. It will cause scares, instead use anti-bacterial cream.

Here at last is the toughest task; stuck at home, we try to compensate for missing out on the joy of being outside by excessive snacking and watching television and the internet. Taking care of these will balance the dopamine in your brain and keep your mind calm but it will also cause skin-related issues, wrinkles, and dark circles. Avoiding this will definitely help your skin directly.
