Chauth & Nagsan: Discovering the Beauty of Dead Salts

With all products core to using Dead Sea Salts, homegrown beauty brand Chauth & Nagsan venture best in the natural beauty lineage.

The word “natural’ has always meant word-of-the-mouth ingredients like Turmeric, Aloe Vera, and such for the people. But the word is so much more than what’s prominent, and Chauth & Nagsan carried through on this note.

With more than 21 minerals, Dead Sea Salts is the unheard element core to all products of the brand. Natural, 100% vegan, and Paraben free, they’re the first to recognize the beauty, skin, as well as hair care potentials of this ingredient.

In conversation with Mohit Mathur, Founder, Chauth & Nagsan Wellness, GlobalSpa explores more on what the beauty brand is all about and heading:

Q-1 How did the idea of Chauth & Nagsan Wellness & bringing Dead Sea Salts to the Indian Market come about?

When I stepped on to do the market research, I realized that the organic beauty industry is flooded with either ‘Ayurveda’ as in Neem , Chandan , Haldi, Aloe Vera and or if not ‘Ayurveda’, then it was Charcoal. It is very important for any entrepreneur to come up with new things. Hence I decided that I would have to be different if I am to live in this space. As a Student of Chemical Technology, I was having the clarity of the benefits of Sea Salts on Skin & Hair. After rigorous research, I zeroed in to the ‘Dead Sea Salts/Mud’ which are highly rich in minerals and which act as the potential elixirs with therapeutic values for skin & hair problems. However, it is always challenging to introduce something new to the market. But I am excited for the response the products have been getting.

Q-2 What is the story behind the name- Chauth & Nagsan?

Actually this name was suggested to me by my grandfather when I apprised him of my venture. Both are the local deities who bring not just the prosperity but protect from evil forces as well. I could easily connect with them as I felt the purpose of our brand, too, is to keep the evil in the form of skin & hair problems at bay. I am sure the deities, too, are with us in our long journey and giving us strength to march ahead.

Q-3 What do you think about the beauty industry in India?

It is good to know that the beauty industry has been steadily moving towards Paraben Free, Natural, and Organic & Vegan products. People have become conscious about their skin & hair more than ever. Our Industry has grasped the pulse. However, I feel that now that we all have a big responsibility to educate our customers about which ingredient may suit their skin and which not.

Q-4 What are the various trends you have observed in the skincare industry?

As I said earlier, the obsession of Indians for the organic and vegan skin care is increasing day by day. However, recent trends show that they are now more experimental and are not just looking out for Neem, Haldi, Chandan, Tusli or Aloe Vera. Currently, the most loved ingredient is, undoubtedly, Charcoal. However, as more people are getting aware about Dead Sea mud/salts, the demand for the same is sure to increase by manifolds. Apart from Dead Sea Salts, Green Tea & Caffeine are two other hot picks for the near future.

Q-5 What’s next for Chauth & Nagsan?

We are a Wellness Company, of which Skin & Hair care is just a part. We have got to touch each and every body part. There is an ample opportunity in every field that we can imagine. Our Target is to reach 200 million dollar revenue and not the market valuation in 10 years from now for which we are working tremendously hard.
