LINKIN Reps On Creating An Eco-Conscious Work Environment

A leading travel representation agency in India, LINKIN Reps is renowned not only for its travel solutions, but also for incorporating a green lifestyle. Here is how LINKIN Reps is building an eco-conscious work environment and life.

LINKIN Reps, one of India’s leading travel solutions agencies, is committed to building an eco-conscious work environment, emphasizing on both physical and mental factors.

Reminiscent of an oasis in a desert, the LINKIN Reps office flaunts a beautiful terrace garden - an otherwise unknown green secret nestled in Patel Nagar. Its green canopy has been a resting abode for many birds, reptiles, and flora over the years. There’s always something new to take in at this terrace. It could be a bunch of bright red roses that bloomed early in the morning or two squirrels jumping from one shrub to another in playful ignorance; that blue and pink butterfly resting on a fresh green leaf or the delicate vine growing vertically, aiming towards the sky – there is never a dull moment in this space. On bright sunny days, the terrace hosts feathery guests like sparrows, parrots, mynahs, white pigeons and others.

But it wasn’t always the green abode that it is today. Earlier, the terrace served as a storehouse for garbage and kitchen materials for the restaurant that operates and still exists right under the terrace. There were old wooden planks, discarded cans, and other unwanted items lying around. But when Komal Seth, Founder and Director, LINKIN Reps, decided to move into her new office nestled in one corner of the terrace, her mother, Poonam Seth decided to give it a makeover and convert the space from a junkyard to a green haven.

A hotelier by profession, Poonam Seth, who has had no formal training in landscape and interior design, began taking interest in aesthetic upgradation of the terrace. Having worked with ITDC hotels for sixteen years as an executive housekeeper and being a nature lover by birth, she loved gardening and would often use her refined aesthetics to enliven otherwise dull spaces with her knowledge of plants and flowers.

Her first priority was to make the terrace cooler and create a relief barrier from the harsh sun. She started with recycling the beer and wine bottles that the restaurant regularly disposed of and used them to adorn big wall bottles-turned-planters. Gradually, more pots and plants were added with interesting elements to the terrace garden. Today, the garden flourishes through the year with more than 500 plants, climbers, vines and blooming shrubs like marigold, jasmine, rose, chameli, basil, thyme, and many more.

The materials used are glass, natural wood, grass, natural stone, jute bags, and yoghurt containers to create an outside experience. Whether you are sitting at the terrace garden or inside the office, you can connect and feel the natural sunlight and beautiful landscape spilling into your space from all sides. From mud lamps to Buddhist flags to idols of gods and goddesses, the terrace has a strong rustic appeal.

When the sun goes down, LINKIN reps terrace brings back the romance of a rooftop destination through a chic gazebo-like ambience. Green plants and climbers with fairy lights, the subtle aroma of fragrant flowers, and contemporary garden furniture create an unbelievable ambience.

Beyond the terrace, LINKIN Reps has adopted a no-paper policy inside its offices along with eco practices such as mandatory morning yoga sessions for the team, healthy snacks, lunch under the green canopy, rainwater storage, and a no-waste policy.

Komal Seth has also pledged to reduce carbon emissions and drives an electric car. The director decided to opt for it to cut down on fuel emissions which greatly reduces the carbon footprint.

With these efforts, LINKIN and Komal Seth are going the extra mile to make sure their work environment and daily life remains as eco-conscious and green as possible.
