[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The art of skincare is one that's meticulous and pampering. While we’re roaming extra down the beauty line, we just might be forgetting the most important street – cleansing our face right. Here’s where double cleansing comes in.
Double cleansing, a revered routine for the Koreans, is a two-step cleansing regime wherein two different cleansing formulas are used – one that's oil-based and the other lather or foam-based.
According to beauty guru and expert, Shahnaz Husain, “Double cleansing of the skin is important at night to remove pollutants, make-up, sweat and oil that are deposited during the day.”
“First wash the skin thoroughly with water. Then wipe with cotton wool, to ensure there is no trace of surface grime. Next, use your cleanser; massaging it into the skin. Double cleansing brightens the skin and restores its health.”
There’s no better time than the night to ridden your skin of all toxins and dirt that’s settled on your face during the day. Double cleansing will remove not only the surface dirt but also reach deep within to clear blocked pores and control breakouts, acne, pigmentation and irritation.
Because “oil-based” might be off putting for oily skin or acne prone skin types, here’s a good myth to bust: cleansing with oil helps remove oil-based dirt like sebum and makeup which water-based cleansers can’t very well. Plus, using oil cleansers helps reduce sebum production that naturally lessens the greasiness on your face. Hence, shine reverted!
Over-cleansing too can become a possibility for dry skin types. Using gentle ingredients like tea tree oil in your products can help combat the problem.
